The C-PROOF team has been busy deploying gliders now that spring is in the air.
Over the Christmas break we had just one glider in the water, but are now back up to three gliders, with glider hal doing the Calvert line at the North end of Vancouver Island to P16, and glider marvin doing the Southern Line from Bamfield offshore. Finally, glider bumblebee is running a line parallel to the coast from Bamfield to Calvert Island. Thanks again to our partnerships with Hakai Institute and Bamfield Marine Sciences Centre for providing support for these deployments!
We had a fourth glider, rosie in the water for a couple of days, but it was naughty and sprang a leak when it got into deep water. The CCGS Franklin was nearby and were kind enough to rescue rosie before she sank, but they put her in what we assume is the brig for her behaviour.
